My Favorite Catholic Podcasts: Part 1

Hey friends,  I am on a podcast kick recently. I've been listening to A LOT of Catholic podcasts, so I decided to share my favorite ones with you guys. Project Siena is not affiliated with any of these podcasts, I'm just sharing them cause I like them :)  So first I want to talk about the Catholic Talk Show . I really love this podcast! I've had the privilege of meeting and going to confession with Fr. Pagano at a youth conference and I got to meet Ryan DellaCrosse at the National Eucharistic Congress last year! The podcast discusses happenings in the Church as well as traditions, dogmas, and fun Catholic topics. It's insightful as well as really funny. Check out their podcast on the link above!  Next is a series of podcasts I'm sure you have all heard of:  The Bible in a Year Podcast ,  The Catechism in a Year Podcast , and  The Rosary in a Year Podcast . Each of these podcasts breaks down their subjects into smaller portions, reads through, and expl...

Praising the Lord in the Hard Times: When You Hit Your Knees

Image
Have you ever had such a hard time that you hit your knees? Something so physically or mentally exhausting that you fall to your knees just to take a breath? Within the past year or so, I've had a lot of those moments. They almost force you to be vulnerable, they knock the air out of you and leave you asking why. Something beautiful about those moments though, is noticing where you are in them, on your knees. The beautiful part about hitting your knees is realizing that whatever is going on that brought you there, you can bring to God.  Catholics and Christians alike pray on their knees. It's a sign of humility, kneeling before the King of Kings in prayer. We can use these vulnerable moments to pray. We're already on our knees, why not pray? As I said in an article about prayer not too long ago, prayer is lifting your heart to God. God wants your heart, whether it be a heart that is angry, a heart that is sad, a heart that is hurt or confused or sorrowful or suffering. He...

54 Day Rosary Novena Challenge

Hey Friends!!  Our Lady of Fatima in her apparitions asked us to pray the Rosary every single day. Well that can be a little hard can't it? How are we supposed to fit such a seemingly long prayer into our every day lives? Well, it seems hard, but it all depends on how much we are willing to commit. If we woke up fifteen minutes earlier, or went to bed fifteen minutes later, cut out fifteen minutes of extra tv or phone time, or turned the music down during a drive, we would all be able to fit a Rosary into our day. Let's try to build that habit together, friends!! Starting on May 31st, the feast of Mary's Visitation, let's start the 54 Day Rosary Novena. Every day I will send out a blog post with the prayers and an email reminder. Anyone who signs up and logs their rosary will have their rosaries counted and added to the Rosary Count which will be live on the blog on May 31st. At the end of the challenge, hopefully we will have completed several hundred Rosaries even if ...

Saint Profile: St. Phillip

Image
Saint Profile:  Name: Saint Philip  Birthday: Unknown  Death Date: Unknown  Feast Day: May 3rd Patron of: Pastry Chefs, Bakers, Hatters 👨‍🍳🥐🥖🧁 Bio: Saint Philip was one of the twelve apostles called by Jesus. He was from the town of Bethsaida and brought Nathanael, another disciple to Christ. Saint Phillip is not mentioned very much in the Bible, but we do know that he conversed with Jesus and Andrew during the feeding of the five thousand and that he asked Jesus about the Father during the last supper with the apostles. Some believe that Philip could have been a follower of John the Baptist.  Saint Philip quotes:  “We have found him of whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”    “Lord, show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied.” Saint Phillip, pray for us!   The beautiful artwork used for Saint Philip's photo was drawn by a dear friend of mine, Gianna K Stanley.
