How AMAZING is God's love?!

Hi friends! Today I wanted to share a story/testimony/reflection on how I came to know all about God's amazing love!! Since I was 11 years old, I'd had it engrained in my mind that if I angered God, He would punish me severely and without mercy. I thought that God would hate me for even the smallest of honest mistakes. I was always plagued with the thought that one day I would mess up so badly, I couldn't be saved, I couldn't be forgiven, I couldn't be loved.  Little 11-year-old me didn't really know how to handle that, so I kept it kind of bottled up inside. I was scrupulously monitoring everything I did, replaying moments in my head over and over again to make sure I hadn't accidentally sinned, and forming private habits that, at first glance, could have been called pious, but were really things I did only because I feared I would not be loved if I didn't do them. Unfortunately, given that this all began just before covid, I wasn't able to go to ...

Reflections From The Mission Field: The World is Thy Ship and not Thy Home

Image
I walked into my room, shut and locked the door, flopped on my bed, and began to cry. After my grandparents had experienced a few different emergencies at their home in Michigan, my parents had decided we were going to move up there, from Florida, to help them. While I was all for the idea of helping my grandparents, I didn't want to leave my home. Michigan did not have my theatre group, my parish, my homeschool co-op, my youth group, or my friends. I was scared to start again somewhere new in the middle of high school.  What would people think of me?  What if I couldn't find a youth group like the one I was in now?  What was I supposed to do if I couldn't find a new theatre or homeschool group to join?  How would I make friends?  As much as I wanted answers to these questions, one question stuck in the forefront of my mind, why was God allowing us to go through this time of hardship. As I lie in bed contemplating this, I weighed the options. Was God trying to t...

The Mission Field: Highlights of being a Catholic Part 1

God bless you friends!  As a first blog post I thought it would be a fun idea to get out on the mission field (aka talk to some young Catholics) and ask them what their favorite parts of being a Catholic were. Here are our answers! Hope you enjoy!! So, what is your favorite part about being a Catholic?  "My favorite part of being Catholic is the community. The people that I get to spend time with and hang out with are so great and being able to ask questions and turn to them for help is such a blessing. I've met so many amazing people through Catholic youth groups and co-ops and I love that there is still so much for me to learn even though I've been raised Catholic" "I love the rich Catholic history we have, and the way Catholicism has shaped world history. Sacred art, sacred music, the liturgy. And I love Catholic community. Also I’m giving a different answer than the obvious answer to this question of salvation, knowing our Creator, true happiness, etc. But t...

The Mission Field: Highlights of Being a Catholic Part 2

May the Lord bless you friends!! Here is part two of the article "Highlights of Being Catholic." Enjoy! So, what is your favorite part about being a Catholic?  "Mostly, everyone you meet who is also Catholic (and Christian) tends to have pretty good morals, and they make good friends." "My favorite part about being a Catholic would be being able to receive the Eucharist and going to Reconciliation." "I think just the opportunity to go to confession and God's infinite mercy is incredible to me. The fact that we get the Blessed Sacrament exposed in adoration is such a beautiful way of worshipping Our Lord. Going to Mass every Sunday, witnessing the ultimate sacrifice of the Mass, is more than words will ever be able to describe."  "I think for me, my favorite part is "Memento Mori" (Remember death) knowing that death is the gateway to Eternal Life. And that "Tempus Fugit" (Time flies) so we have to keep in mind our cho...
